Meet Our Doctor: Dr. Diana Nguyen
Dr. Diana Nguyen is a Bay Area native. She graduated magna cum laude from San Jose State University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Dr. Nguyen went on to work as a television news reporter and anchor for local NBC affiliate stations across the United States (she has worked at KRON4, KSBW, WEIU, and KPVI). Dr. Diana Nguyen decided to change careers when she realized helping people was her passion. Dr. Nguyen completed her post baccalaureate prerequisite courses for admissions into optometry school at UC Berkeley Extension. She graduated with her doctorate from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2019.
Dr. Nguyen completed her externships at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, Indian Health Reservation – Riverside/San Bernardino County, University Eye Center at Los Angeles, and Ketchum Health. Dr. Nguyen is certified by the California State Board of Optometry to practice full scope, which includes treatment and management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye disease. While in optometry school, she was awarded multiple scholarships including the AAUW Career Development Grant, TLC LASIK Refractive Excellence Award, and the Bay Area SMACNA Scholarship. Dr. Diana Nguyen believes in giving back and has volunteered overseas in Ghana, West Africa to help visually impaired children with Unite For Sight.
In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys traveling and cooking. She is fluent in Vietnamese and Spanish.
